This month saw our sports teams take to the pool and field for their first competitive fixtures. The enthusiasm and effort by the pupils has been brilliant and we are excited about the competitions and events to come.

The girls football teams are thriving. With over 50 girls competing to play in our three teams lead by Coach Kerry, Tammy and Mohammed. A positive start to the season saw three U9 wins against Al Raha school and a narrow U11 defeat against West Yas. Amity took their very first swimming team to a gala at Al Raha school. With only trial session in the small pool the odds were against the swimmers. However they performed extremely well did themselves and the school proud earning 147 points and finishing 4th. We will be holding a another trial session on the 24th of October for all swimmers old and new who would like to compete in the next gala on the 5th of November.

Over 50 students each week are playing touch rugby from year 3-6 at school. Our U11 team have already played their first two matches in the off island league. The U9s have their first games on Wednesday the 18th of October. Sports at Amity is growing substantially. Since the start of term we have introduced afterschool Athletics, Badminton, Sailing, Boys Football and the Super 11 programme.

Additionally, Amity offers a whole host of external provider paid activities offering students the opportunity to take part in range of sports and physical activities. If you are a parent and would like to assist the PE department we would love your help. Please contact the PE team. You will be required to comply with Amity policy which includes providing a good conduct certificate.

Captain Tim is at the final stages of receiving ADEK approval, until that time practical sailing lessons will continue to be PE lessons.

  • BIS Abu Dhabi’s Team Falcon participated in the Middle East Union Cup Swim MeetMon 15 May 2017BIS Abu Dhabi’s Team Falcon participated in the Middle East Union Cup Swim MeetRead More

On Friday 28th and Saturday 29th April Bis Abu Dhabi took 40 swimmers from across Primary and Secondary to participate once again in the Middle East Union Cup Swim Meet (MEUC) at the Hamdan Swim Centre in Dubai.

Swimming is one of those unique sports that some schools participate in for the entire year and train up to 15 hours a week.  There are schools at the other extreme that have their students compete in all sports and only swim 8 - 10 weeks a year.  For our own students we have begun training  in our new 25m swimming pool this year and so the 50m pool the competition was held in did not seem so long.

With high technology touch pads and FINA rules many students were extremely nervous. The two day event was to be an experience; just to see each participants name in lights on a large screen was a thrill. There was a huge improvement this year with most of our swimmers finishing in the Championship group and achieving 15 medals – 4 gold, 8 silver, and 3 bronze. We also had 3 participants win a medal in the Development group – 2 silver and 1 bronze.

Well done and congratulations to all those who participated. Thank you to the parents who made the journey with their child all the way to Dubai.

BIS Abu Dhabi Falcons U11 B Basketball Team were victorious on Monday beating Cranleigh 4-2 in a nail biting final to the tournament. Having qualified from their group with wins over Brighton C, Raha and a draw with Cranleigh, BISAD faced Brighton B in the semi final and eventually ran out 8-2 winners thanks to some excellent offensive shooting and a hard working defence.

Having already faced Cranleigh once in the group and drawing with them 4-4 it was always going to be a tight final but again thanks to some excellent defence, BISAD triumphed and won our first Basketball trophy of this year.
